analisi di laboratorioLABORATORY ANALYSES FOR CE MARKING
AND PRODUCT CERTIFICATION

CE marking is a declaration of conformity for products, confirming their conformity to harmonised European technical standards and their fulfilment of the established essential safety requirements. .
Under the responsibility of the manufacturer or his assignee, the CE marking must be affixed to the product, the packaging or the accompanying commercial documents. All CE marked products can move freely throughout the European Union, also within any single country, and no Member State can limit or prevent their issue onto the market.

With the approval dated 30 April 2005 of the “Amalgamated Law on construction materials” it is unequivocally ratified that products for use in building works can no longer be sold in the countries of the European Union without CE marking, or the sanctions laid down in DL no. 256/93 shall apply.

Using the most cutting-edge techniques and inspection equipment, Studio MM has set up a system of controls and laboratory tests in order to support companies in the technical areas listed below: :

  • CE marking aggregates;
  • CE marking concrete products; ;
  • CE marking stone materials;
  • CE marking ceramics;
  • CE marking bricks;
  • CE marking bituminous concretes.

Currently Studio MM collaborates continuously with many companies in northern Italy, many of which have already obtained CE marking, also using the "System 2+" audited by external certification bodies..

On request, consulting services can also be provided to fulfil documentary and regulatory requirements, with the collaboration of inspectors from numerous certification bodies, who are able to tackle and solve any problems concerning the production of the required documentation and the auditing and control of the CE system. .

analisi di laboratorioSTONES
On 1 October 2003 CE marking became mandatory for finished products in ornamental stone for external paving (EN 1341, EN 1342, EN 1343), while for other materials for internal use, the specific standards (EN 1469, EN 12058, etc.) came into force in 2006.
After an initial transitional phase, these products can no longer be sold in the countries of the European Union without the CE marking, otherwise the sanctions laid down in DL no. 256/’93 shall apply.
The new harmonised technical standards define the most important characteristics of natural stone products, in particular in addition to the geometric requirements, also the physical characteristics of natural stone, such as resistance to frost, abrasion, compression, bending, slipperiness, etc.
The current laws require a series of initial laboratory tests, aiming to define the important characteristics of the materials subject to marking; subsequently, every two years or every time the product features change, tests must be carried out on the production.

AGGREGATES
With the entry into force of the new European regulations on CE marking of aggregates for building, in response to requests from several crushing facilities in the area, Studio MM autonomously equipped its laboratories to be able to carry out the tests required under the reference standards (EN 12620 – concrete; EN 13043 – bituminous concretes; EN 13242 – road foundations and civil engineering works, EN 13139 – plasters etc.)..
The structure, kept deliberately small and flexible, allows the company to provide laboratory services at competitive costs, offering a valid technological support to those companies or groups working in the extraction sector which do not want to bear the internal burden of a complex material auditing and analysis structure.
By providing periodical sampling services for the materials to be analysed on behalf of its customers, Studio MM also guarantees a complete "turnkey" service at a reduced cost, allowing small and medium companies the chance to implement a CE marking system easily and efficiently.

analisi di laboratorioCONCRETE BLOCKS AND PRODUCTS
Since March 2003, with the mandatory marking of prefabricated concrete products (EN 12839 - elements for fencing), all the various types of concrete products have been progressively subject to mandatory CE marking.
The main reference standards in force in this sector are given below, together with the respective date of the entry into force for marking:

  • EN 1916 Concrete pipes 23/11/2004
  • EN 1917 Concrete pits 23/11/2004
  • EN 771-3 Concrete blocks for walls 01/12/2005
  • EN 1338 Concrete blocks for floors 01/03/2005
  • EN 1340 Concrete kerbstones 01/02/2005

Studio MM is able to carry out all the tests required to achieve CE marking, both on small and large sized pieces, pipes and pits with diameters or external measurements of up to 2.5 m.

BRICKS

Bricks, like all other construction materials, have mandatory CE marking since April 2006
This guarantees customers a quality product, and protects end users from unpleasant surprises linked to the potential non-conformity of the material purchased..
analisi di laboratorioWall and floor bricks have been subject to CE marking since April 2006; in February 2007 it also became mandatory to mark roofing materials (roof tiles).

CERAMICS
With the approval of the new European standard EN 14411, ceramic tile manufacturers are also bound to CE marking for their products..
Mandatory marking came into force in November 2005, although many companies in the sector had already begun to have their products tested for CE marking purposes before this, to increase their added value
With its cutting edge equipment and test machinery, Studio MM is able to carry out any kind of CE marking laboratory analysis quickly and at a competitive price.

cassetta bitumeBITUMINOUS CONCRETE
Striving to continuously satisfy the needs of its customers
Studio MM has equipped its facilities with the best in modern technology complying with the new EN 13108 CE marking standard, to guarantee the achievement and maintenance of CE markings also for bituminous concretes..
The laboratory activities, supported by 2 mobile units, ensure a rapid service at competitive prices, covering all the technological characterisations required to comply with the new European provisions.

PRODUCT CERTIFICATION FOR FRESH CONCRETE
In the text "Technical Rules for constructions" (published in the Official Journal of the Italian Republic no. 222 on 23 September 2005, D.M. of 14 September 2005), chapter 11 provides for the mandatory certification of production controls for concrete manufacturers..

This legal requirement, originally foreseen for April 2007 was postponed to April 2008, and affects all fixed and/or temporary installations producing concrete using industrialised processes.
Studio MM's facilities, kept small and flexible in order to provide cost-effective laboratory services, offer a valid technological support for businesses or groups working in the extraction/building sector who do not want to bear the internal burden of a complex material auditing and analysis structure..

When appointed also to carry out periodical checks on production for the purposes of product certification, Studio MM and its 2 special mobile units work directly on site (to an agreed schedule) to carry out the appropriate tests in order to obtain and maintain product certification under "System 2+".
On request, Studio MM can also provide the assistance needed to produce the documentation required for certification.
Releasing the concrete producer from the additional burden of documentation, Studio MM is able to provide its customers with a turnkey service, managing the whole concrete certification process rapidly and cost-effectively.
